Navy Secretary Resigns Over Review of Navy SEAL

Navy Secretary Richard Spencer has been forced to resign over his handling of a review into actions taken by Navy SEAL Eddie Gallagher. Gallagher had posed with the dead body of an ISIS soldier, causing him to be demoted a rank.

President Trump reversed that demotion in November, prompting the Navy to review whether he should remain a Navy SEAL.

Secretary Spencer, according to the Pentagon, secretly proposed to the White House that Gallagher would remain his title, despite the ongoing review.

The Pentagon claimed that this circumvented the chain of command, leading to Secretary Spencer's forced resignation.
